For the first time in a long time, we had an uneventful week. The last few weeks have been busy with guests, planning a trip, and all the stuff that goes along with just having moved into a new apartment. It was all fun, but also a little stressful. This week it’s been nice just trying to find a routine again.
Part of my routine is studying French. With everything going on, I haven’t studied much since February. This week I tried getting back into Rosetta Stone and was a little disappointed in myself with how far behind I have fallen. You never think of it in English because you use it everyday, but language is like athletic conditioning – it’s surprising how fast you lose it if you don’t keep it up.
In sunnier news, this week it feels like spring is in full swing. The weather has been sunny with temperatures in the high 60’s all week. Today we decided to walk the mile and a half down to the lake and saw all the flowers and trees blooming, as well as many boats out enjoying the weather.
When we returned from our walk we finally put our oven to use making chocolate chip cookies. They turned out a little different because I couldn’t find brown sugar in any of the grocery stores here, but that just means we have to make some more until they are perfect. And if someone has to eat all the rejects I guess it will just be another tough task for me to handle.
